This possibly Late 19th-century religious pilgrimage souvenir card commemorates the Holy Shroud. The front displays a cross with a crown of thorns and Passion instruments. A red ribbon, inscribed 'Ce Ruban a touché au Saint Suaire' (This Ribbon has touched the Holy Shroud) and 'Au Saint Suaire de Cadouin' (To the Holy Shroud of Cadouin), emphasizes its sacred relic connection.
The reverse features an 'Oraison de l'Office du Saint-Suaire' (Prayer of the Holy Shroud Office). Reciting it offered 'quarante jours d'indulgence' (forty days of indulgence), decreed by Bishop Périgueux and Sarlat. Acquiring the card also supported 'l'Œuvre' (the Work), granting five years participation in monthly Masses.
Dated 'Périgueux, le 4 septembre 1881' (Périgueux, September 4, 1881), signed by J. Dufourg, Vicar General, this historical memento provides a glimpse into 19th-century Catholic devotion and pilgrimage practices in France.
