This lot features three charming Late 19th-century French advertising chromo cards, issued by 'À la Ville de Saint-Denis' (At the City of Saint-Denis), a prominent 'Grands Magasins de Nouveautés' (Department Store) in Paris. Each card beautifully reproduces a painting from the Louvre Museum, intended as promotional items for customers.
The first card displays 'Portrait de Largillière' (Portrait by Largillière) from the 'École Française' (French School), showcasing three elegant figures in what appears to be a garden setting.
The second card presents 'La Forêt' (The Forest) by Jakob van Ruysdael, belonging to the 'École Hollandaise' (Dutch School), depicting a serene woodland landscape with figures and animals.
The third card, in a vertical format, features 'Joueur de Violon à une Fenêtre' (Violin Player at a Window) by Drolling, also from the 'École Française'.
The reverse sides list the store's address at Faubourg St-Denis and Rue de Paradis, Paris, along with an extensive 'Comptoir d'Articles de Ménage' (Household Articles Counter) offering various goods, stating 'Tous ces Articles sortent des meilleures fabriques et sont de première qualité' (All these Articles come from the best factories and are of first quality).
