A rare and beautifully preserved French wedding menu dated November 6, 1945, printed for the marriage celebration of the Simonne and Gaston union. This elegant piece of culinary history comes from just after the end of World War II, offering a fascinating glimpse into French gastronomy and postwar celebrations.
The menu includes an elaborate déjeuner (lunch) with refined dishes such as Civet de Lièvre, Pommes Dauphine, Selle d’Agneau Renaissance, and desserts like Profiterolles au Chocolat and Douceurs du Verger, all paired with fine wines, Champagne, and Calvados.
The dîner (dinner) is equally sumptuous, featuring Potage aux Étoiles, Médallions Charolais Périgueux, Poulets de Grain Truffés, and Pièce Montée among other delicacies, again accompanied by fine wines, liqueurs, and Champagne.
