This vintage French advertising card from the 1910s promotes 'Chocolat Celtic Nantes.' The vibrant front design features a cheerful boy in traditional attire, raising his hand and sitting atop a large bar of 'Chocolat Celtic.' The text 'voilĂ le meilleur' (this is the best) accompanies him, emphasizing the product's superior quality. The chocolate bar itself is marked '7 DIVISIONS' and 'CHOCOLAT QUALITĂ SURFINE' (Superfine Quality Chocolate).
The reverse side of the card provides further details, asserting that 'Le Chocolat CELTIC est le meilleur' (Celtic Chocolate is the best) because it is 'fabriqué avec les meilleurs sucres, les meilleurs cacaos dans l'Usine ModÚle de Nantes' (made with the best sugars, the besrt cacaos in the Model Factory of Nantes). The brand offered '2 qualités': 'Qualité Surfine (Enveloppe Jaune)' (Superfine Quality (Yellow Wrapper)) and 'Qualité Extra Vanillée (Enveloppe Blanche)' (Extra Vanilla Quality (White Wrapper)).
The card also proudly states a 'Production 30.000 kilos par jour' (Production 30,000 kilos per day) and encourages consumers to 'Demandez-le Ă votre Fournisseur !' (Ask your Supplier for it!). Wholesale distribution was managed by 'G. BILLARD & Cá”á”, Nantes.' This charming piece of ephemera offers a glimpse into early 20th-century French advertising and confectionery history.
