This charming collection presents three distinct French religious holy cards, commonly known as prayer cards, dating from the 1910s. Each card features unique religious imagery and devotional texts, reflecting popular Catholic piety of the era. These pieces of ephemera served as cherished spiritual aids, often distributed at pilgrimage sites, churches, or during significant religious events.

The first card illustrates Our Lady of Verdelais above a church and a scene with three crosses, bearing the inscription 'Aux pieds de Notre Dame de Verdelais j'ai prie pour vous' (At the feet of Our Lady of Verdelais I prayed for you). Its reverse offers a 'Prière à Notre-Dame de Montligeon' (Prayer to Our Lady of Montligeon).

The second card depicts a female saint standing on a cloud, with a Gothic church below, and a banner reading 'Mais priez mes enfants, Dieu vous exaucera en peu de temps. Mon Fils se laisse toucher.' (But pray my children, God will answer you in a short time. My Son lets himself be touched.)

The third card showcases Our Lady of Liesse alongside a chapel and another Gothic church, accompanied by the text 'Aux pieds de Notre-Dame de Liesse j'ai prié pour vous' (At the feet of Our Lady of Liesse I prayed for you). Its verso contains a 'Prière à Marie Immaculée Composée par S. S. Pie X' (Prayer to Mary Immaculate Composed by H. H. Pope Pius X), linking its creation directly to the pontificate of Pope Pius X (1903-1914).

These historically significant cards offer a glimpse into early 20th-century religious devotion and publishing. Their intricate designs and heartfelt prayers make them ideal for collectors of antique religious items, or for use in creative projects such as junk journals and scrapbooks.
