This lot comprises two exquisite antique Catholic holy cards, likely dating from the 1910s. Each card features beautiful chromolithography, showcasing scenes from the life and devotion of Saint Louis-Marie Grignion de Montfort. These pieces of religious ephemera were 'Made in Belgium,' as indicated on the front, a common origin for such devotional items during that era.

The first card illustrates 'L.M. Grignion de Montfort' kneeling before a radiant Virgin Mary, with another figure in the background. The back features a prayer starting with 'Marie apparaît à son serviteur.' (Mary appears to her servant.) and continues with 'O B. Montfort, dévot esclave de Jésus en Marie, obtenez-moi d'aimer, comme vous, cette bonne Mère...' (O Blessed Montfort, devout slave of Jesus in Mary, obtain for me to love, like you, this good Mother...).

The second card depicts 'L.M. Grignion de Montfort' in clerical vestments, teaching several children to pray, with religious imagery in the background. Its reverse side includes the caption 'Montfort apprend aux enfants à prier Marie.' (Montfort teaches children to pray to Mary.) and a prayer to 'B. Montfort' for Christian education.

These cards, referring to him as 'B. Montfort' (Blessed Montfort), predate his canonization in 1947, placing them firmly after his beatification in 1888. They are cherished pieces for collectors of religious artifacts, as well as ideal elements for use in creative projects like junk journals or scrapbooking, offering a touch of vintage spiritual charm.
