1900s - Antique French Religious Communion Cards - Vintage Sacred Art Ephemera - First Communion Souvenir - Christian Collectibles

This collection features two exquisite antique French religious communion cards, likely dating from the 1900s. Each card presents a vibrant lithographic image, rich in devotional symbolism and spiritual significance, characteristic of sacred art from the turn of the century.

The first card depicts Jesus offering the Holy Eucharist to a group of children, an iconic representation of First Communion. Below the illustration, a French inscription reads: 'Dieu aime ses enfants et parce qu'il les aime, il vit au milieu d'eux.' (God loves His children and because He loves them, He lives among them.), attributed to Père Captier.

The second card portrays Jesus at a table with a disciple, reminiscent of the Last Supper or a sacred heart theme, surrounded by ornate detailing and autumnal foliage. Its accompanying French text states: 'Je vous aime d'un amour éternel, c'est pourquoi, j'ai pris votre cœur pour ma demeure.' (I love you with an eternal love, that is why I have taken your heart for my dwelling.). The reverse of one card confirms its purpose as a 'Souvenir de ma Première Communion' (Souvenir of my First Communion), with spaces for the date and church name, making these cherished mementos of a significant religious event.
