This beautiful religious card, dating from the 1900s, features a serene depiction of the Virgin Mary on its front. She is shown with her hands clasped in prayer, gazing upwards, adorned with a golden halo. In the background, a subtle landscape with stylized buildings adds depth to the scene. The image is framed by intricate decorative borders with gold and white floral motifs, including lilies, against a dark and light patterned background, typical of chromolithography with gilding.
Below the image, elegant script in French is integrated with further gold embellishments and floral designs. The text reads: 'Fidèle à toutes les inspirations de la grâce, le regard tourné vers le Ciel, Marie demeurait volontiers attentive aux volontés de Dieu.' This translates to: 'Faithful to all inspirations of grace, with her gaze turned towards Heaven, Mary willingly remained attentive to the will of God.' The publisher 'Bouasse Jeune, Paris' is noted at the bottom.
The reverse side of the card contains two devotional prayers in French. The first is titled 'PRIÈRE' (PRAYER) and references the 'Livre de Judith' (Book of Judith). The second prayer is attributed to 'SAINT ALPHONSE DE LIGUORI.' At the very bottom, a common supplication states: 'Mère et Refuge des pécheurs, priez pour nous!' (Mother and Refuge of sinners, pray for us!).
