This collection features two distinct antique French Catholic communion cards, both originally published by Bouasse Jeune in Paris. One card showcases a tender illustration of the Virgin Mary, gently placing a necklace on a kneeling child. The other card presents a beautifully detailed chalice, emanating rays of light, amidst a backdrop of delicate floral arrangements.
The card depicting Mary and the child contains the French inscription: 'Quiconque est marqué du caractère de Marie, sera inscrit au livre de vie.' This translates to 'Whoever is marked by the character of Mary, will be inscribed in the book of life.' Its reverse side elaborates on 'Le Scapulaire' (The Scapular), discussing its spiritual significance.
The second card, adorned with an elegant golden border, carries the message: 'N'oubliez jamais la présence dans votre cœur de ce doux Jésus que vous avez reçu dans la Communion.' Translated, this means 'Never forget the presence in your heart of this sweet Jesus whom you received in Communion.' Its reverse features a handwritten note: 'Souvenir de 2me communion' (Memory of 2nd communion).
