This lot features two charming French advertising trade cards from the 1900s, promoting 'LA KABILINE,' a household dye product. One card depicts a young boy with spectacles and a cap, engrossed in reading. The brand name 'LA KABILINE' is clearly visible. The other card showcases a playful illustration of a hand forming a cat shadow puppet, casting a distinct silhouette of a cat. This card also advertises 'LA KABILINE' as a 'VÉRITABLE TEINTURE DES MÉNAGES,' translating to 'True Household Dye.'

The reverse sides of these cards provide further details about the Kabiline product. One back explicitly states 'Pour rendre neufs ses Vêtements' ('To make your clothes new') and that it was 'Adoptée par les Personnes économes' ('Adopted by economical people'). It was 'Vendue dans le monde entier' ('Sold worldwide') for 'Le Paquet: 40 Centimes' ('The Packet: 40 Centimes'). The other card's reverse details that Kabiline came in 'Paquets' (packets) 'Pour Teindre' (for dyeing) 'Les Vêtements' (clothes) and 'Boules' (balls) 'Pour Raviver' (for reviving) 'Les Lingeries' (lingerie), allowing one to 'Teindre soi-même' (dye oneself). These historical cards offer a delightful glimpse into early 20th-century advertising.
