These two antique French prayer cards, identified as 'cartes de prière' or devotional cards, originate from the early 20th century. They feature beautiful religious motifs, including crosses and delicate floral arrangements, printed with gold accents on an off-white background.

(I know of no more salutary consolation, nor a quicker remedy for all the pains and afflictions of this life, than the memory of the wounds and the cross of Jesus Christ.).

The second card, 'Un Mot du Bon Dieu' (A Word from the Good Lord), offers a reflection by Mgr. Mermillod, framed by an intricate floral wreath and a radiating cross. (To inconvenience oneself, to sacrifice one's inclinations, one's sympathies, one's opinions to always do what conscience decides: This is where a truly generous heart will be recognized.)

Both cards were published by 'Librairie de l'Œuvre de St-Paul, 6, rue Cassette, Paris, VIe,' indicating their Parisian origin. These pieces serve as a testament to popular piety and artistic devotional printing of the era.
